16-year-old Girl Creates an NGO Fighting Period Poverty
Aanya Patel, a high school junior from Florida, USA, launched the Global Girls Initiative in 2020. GlobalGI has since donated 100,000 menstrual hygiene products to local schools, domestic violence shelters, and other related communities.
GlobalGI initially started out as a GoFundMe project by Patel, but now is being supported by various corporations like Procter & Gamble.
