Did you know that the color of your period blood tells you vital health information?Â
BLACK: Old blood that has oxidized that can appear at the beginning or end of period
BROWN/DARK RED: Old blood that has not oxidized as much, OR An early sign of pregnancy called implantation bleeding
BRIGHT RED: Indicates fresh blood and a steady flow

PINK: Can occur when period blood mixes with cervical fluid, indicates lower estrogen levels due to hormonal birth control; Can be caused by unhealthful diet or anemia
ORANGE: Can occur when period blood mixes with cervical fluid, indicates an infection, so you should check for other symptoms like vaginal itching, discomfort, and foul-smell
GRAY: Sign of bacterial vaginosis, other symptoms include vaginal itching, fishy vaginal odor, and painful urination. Consult your doctor!
