Period Blood Color 🩸
Did you know that the color of your period blood tells you vital health information?
BLACK: Old blood that has oxidized that can appear at the beginning or end of period
BROWN/DARK RED: Old blood that has not oxidized as much, OR An early sign of pregnancy called implantation bleeding
BRIGHT RED: Indicates fresh blood and a steady flow
PINK: Can occur when period blood mixes with cervical fluid, indicates lower estrogen levels due to hormonal birth control; Can be caused by unhealthful diet or anemia
ORANGE: Can occur when period blood mixes with cervical fluid, indicates an infection, so you should check for other symptoms like vaginal itching, discomfort, and foul-smell
GRAY: Sign of bacterial vaginosis, other symptoms include vaginal itching, fishy vaginal odor, and painful urination. Consult your doctor!
Every period is different, however, and blood color can change from month to month. What's most important is that you learn what's normal for you. 🩸
